Over the last half a decade, we have seen marketing evolve at a rapid pace, with companies being more focused on social media and the effects that it can have on your company. Because of this, loads of new and fresh marketing strategies have been used by companies, on large and small scales.
Today, we are going to go through the marketing strategies that have changed the way we think about marketing as a whole. This page is made for those people who are looking for new ways to market their businesses or for people who are interested in marketing as a whole!
The Addition Of Personalisation
When we look at the use of technology as a whole, the addition of personalisation has been a key feature over the last decade. Over the last few years, the advances in AI and machine learning as a whole has allowed companies to personalise their marketing strategies to make their marketing more effective.
Looking at companies like Spotify and Netflix, you can see how personalisation has changed the way they do things. They can now use algorithms that show users content that is specific to their behaviours on the site. This shows the users that the site knows what they want and listens to their patterns.
This is similar to how casino affiliates like FruitySlots.com can show their users the sites they know they will like. Using their extensive methods, they pick casinos that players will be actively searching for, whether it's casinos with sought-after bonuses or trusted online casinos that accept Visa, these casino operators are leading the way.
Experimental Marketing Strategies
The new forms of marketing have allowed companies to be different in the ways they market. Their marketing teams will want to focus on standing out and being different from the competitors that they may have.
When you think of energy drinks, you have Red Bull and Monster as the leaders in the market, but, Red Bull has worked hard over the last few years to market itself in a way that stands out. The biggest example comes from when they sponsored huge sporting events like the space jump performed by Felix Baumgartner. They had their logo plastered all over this event and they aren't the only ones who have been innovative and experimental with their strategies.
Ikea is another good example, as a company that sells beds and at-home items, they invited some people for an overnight sleepover so they could test their products. This is a great idea and one that drew a lot of attention to the company and tier products.
Social Media and Influencer Marketing
We slightly mentioned this earlier, but marketing on social media has been a focus of a lot of companies recently and for good reason too. Whether it's hiring new social media teams who know about the trends and know how to talk to their followers or using influencers as sponsors, this has been fun to watch over the last few years.
Our personal favourite examples have been Wendy's social media team and Duolingo’s team. Duolingo has been very focused on meme culture and making their famous owl a character in their marketing. They turned their logo into a viral superstar and allowed their team to have full reign over the things they posted across their socials. This worked for the business as they saw boosts in user engagements and downloads as a whole.
We also saw companies allowing influencers on social media to be themselves when they promote the companies' products or services. Instead of the usual corporate ideas, they decided to allow these social media influencers to be themselves which translates better to their content. The videos or posts fit in with what the influencers posted and their viewers were more likely to buy into the product they were promoting.
