Offering all the accuracy, speed and cost-effectiveness of the company’s proven range of drill sharpening systems, the Darex E-90 end mill sharpener provides users with a simple and convenient method of refurbishing milling tools without the expense of special purpose cutter grinding equipment or the need for highly trained operators. Available from the UK’s leading workholding systems and machining equipment specialist, 1st Machine Tool Accessories (1st MTA), the E-90 is the ideal sharpener for 1.5 to 50 mm diameter multi-flute end mills with shanks up to 26 mm diameter. The E-90 not only enables mills to be quickly and easily re-sharpened in-house, but also offers substantial cost savings over external regrind services. In addition, it ensures maximum tooling availability, allowing users to achieve further production cost savings by minimising their tooling inventory. Suitable for 2, 3, 4 and 6-fluted end mills as standard, with optional 5 or 8-flute collets also available, the E-90 will sharpen both the primary and clearance angles on mill flutes and cutter ends in a single set up. It provides simple, yet precise control of the unit’s air bearing spindle and produces the required clearance angles using a unique stylus mechanism. The E-90 accommodates flute lengths of up to 152 mm and will refurbish twin fluted 13 mm end mills in approximately two minutes. As a result, users re-sharpening around 10 tools per week can expect to achieve equipment payback within 12 months. The sharpener is equipped with a series of high precision, C5 type collets to suit 5-25 mm diameter mill shanks, or can be supplied with 32, 38 and 50 mm diameter collet adaptors to special order. The unit’s resin bonded super-abrasive CBN wheel delivers optimum cutter surface finish without burning, along with a service life of several hundred HSS or cobalt tools. An optional 320 grit diamond wheel is also available for processing carbide tooling.
