Open Belts With Grip Closure

Open grip belts enable tube sanding and polishing on pre-installed applications such as handrails. The belts are supplied as strips to be fastened with a type fastener.

Open grip belts as supplied as 600mm long strips which are fastened together with a grip fastening strip. This enables them to be used to sand and re-dress pre-installed installations such as handrails and pipework. They can be used on most tube sanding machines, although the 600mm length will mean the jaw width is constrained on some larger machines. They also work well on burnishing machines such as FiniMaster and PTX with a suitable belt drive wheel.

The range includes coated abrasive grades 60 to 320 and non-woven abrasive options. These include, Coarse A for giving a brushed finish of approx 240 equivalent, Fine A and Fine S in aluminium oxide (durable) and silicon carbide (brighter finish) abrasive respectively and an Ultra Fine S of approx grade 1000, as a step towards a polished finish. Finally, there is a non-abrasive felt belt to carry polishing compound for mirror finishing. We suggest having a separate felt belt for each grade of polish used to avoid contamination. You may wish to purchase the optional grip strip to secure these.
