ENGINE IDLE LIMITER

The idle limiter is designed to cut the engine off after idling for a set period, offering fleet owners a number of key benefits in the efficient management of their vehicles. The most noticeable effect of fitting this device will be the fuel savings which will undoubtedly be achieved. The longer term effect will be the reduced wear on the engine and other components of the vehicle. However another major consideration is the beneficial effect this will have on our environment. It may also be a consideration if the vehicle is fitted with a wall flow exhaust soot filter. These systems will clog fairly quickly if the engine is left idling for long periods and the soot is not burned off. It can be installed either through the electrical system or mechanically and will record any restarts within 20 seconds of shut down. The variable idle programme can be set between 1 to 9 minutes and is of robust construction making it tamper resistant.
