Public Art: John Lewis Newbury
Andrew Moor Associates have designed various elements for John Lewis Partnership’s newest stores. The cladding panels for the new John Lewis At Home store in Newbury, which opened in April, create the effect of soft curtains shielding a mysterious interior, despite being part of the cladding over solid walls.. The digitally printed glass panels blend in colour with the more austere sheet metal panels, but act as a striking contrast, both in the actual material and in the visual image. The flowing fabric images reflects the flavour of the store itself. In addition to the newbury store, Andrew Moor Associates have created the designs and patterns and completed a fritted façade for the new John Lewis under in Exeter. This won’t be completed for a further 4-5 months, but already the different densities of weave allow differing amounts of transparency for from the interior and the exterior. The façade of the Milton Keynes John Lewis store is also undergoing a major refurbishment. Again, Andrew Moor Associates, working with John lewisd, developed the designs and the samples for this mixture of transparent and spandrel panels in ceramic printed glass. Tel: 020 7586 818
