The use of an external grating for wavelength stabilisation results in a substantially longer coherence length than other semiconductor lasers (including DFBs), and a low phase noise. The wavelength stability is assured by design, eliminating the need for wavelength lockers and complex feedback control circuits.
The Fibolux ECLD is used in a variety of applications such as standard and advanced spectroscopy; interferometric instruments (inc. hydrophones & geophons); LIDAR; optical test & frequency conversion.
The Fibolux ECLD can also be supplied as a compact Single Frequency Laser Diode System with sub-MHz line width (in cw mode). Wavelengths for the standard systems are in the range 1530nm to 1565nm with typical mode-hop-free tuning of 20GHz and a total tuning range up to 100GHz (0.8nm). The typical output power in the range of 8-15mW may be post-amplified by integrating an EDFA. Wavelength multiplexing and modulation input is also available.
The narrowband diode lasers can be used in a variety test and measurement applications, in particular all typical and advanced spectroscopic measurements.
