Canterbury Cathedral are embracing new technologies for restoration works in the Chapel of Our Lady Martyrdom.
Artscan3d are currently working at Canterbury Cathedral on the Lady chapel Angel frieze restoration.
Working with artist stone carver Nina Bilbey, to restore the 4 missing angels in the frieze, Artscan3d are using their modern technology to enable a more sustainable approach to traditional craft.
The process involves Artscan3d 3d scanning the 4m long medieval frieze to provide the Restoration carver with multiple prints in clay, plaster and resin to aid in the restoration.
This is a great commission for Artscan3d and Canterbury Cathedral have been incredibly positive about the use of new technology in the restoration works.
