Fashion and clothing retailers will normally publish their size charts, particularly for on line customers. The garments will often be designed and sourced from manufacturers and these are supposed to measure to the size chart. Retailers will commonly have some garment stands and QA managers will put sample or production garments on these to check the fit of the garment. A major source of garment return is because of poor fit.Assyst Bullmer supply retailers with a unique system for fit control. The clothing patterns are received from the designer/manufacturer and the Assyst Bullmer software measures them to check the various measuring dimensions (eg waist, hip, chest etc) against the retailer's size chart and variations are shown. The size data of the customer is used to create virtual avatars which represent the customer far more accurately than any garment stand. Each size of clothing can then be tried on the correct avatar and the garment checked for actual fit. Any discrepancy between the garment patterns- size chart- avatar size can be immediately seen and corrected before production starts.
