A little love goes a long way
17-08-2017
The Sheffield Cycle Stand is well-known for its long lifespan, a lifespan which can be extended by carrying out a few simple checks on a semi-regular basis (every 6-12 months is perfect). These checks will highlight any possible problems, and could even save money in the long-run. What should you be checking? Find out below…
Check your fixings
Firstly, make sure that all your Sheffield Cycle Stands are fixed firmly to the ground (a loose stand won’t be secure and may need re-setting or replacing).
Flanged: Loose or damaged bolts can easily be replaced, just remember, any damage to the ground surface will need repairing before the stand can be re-fixed.
Ragged: Ragged stands are unlikely to become loose, but if they do they will need fully excavating before they can be re-set.
Check for wear and tear
Damaged paintwork might be unsightly, but it is only cosmetic and can be easily fixed with a quick paint touch up. Call our office to get some touch up paint. All AUTOPA products are galvanised as standard, so even if the paint is chipped, the stand won’t rust.
Damage caused to the galvanised surface is more serious and could lead to the stand rusting. Treat any damage to the galvanised layer using a zinc based primer before re-applying any paintwork.
Damage to any high visibility banding may affect the DDA Compliance of the stand, but can be easily replaced. Simply contact our sales office on +44 (0)1788 550556 to get your hands on some replacement tape.
Clean regularly
Have your stainless steel stands started to look discoloured? Don’t panic, they aren’t rusting, they’re just slightly stained. Over time particles in the air can land on stands and discolour their surface, but it’s easy to fix with a good clean. AUTOPA recommends simply using warm soapy water to remove any staining. Read our Stainless Steel Maintenance Guide for more information on how to care for your stainless steel stands.
