Site seating, sorted!
17-08-2017
Seating spaces play a key role in public developments, so it’s important that the right products are used to create them. AUTOPA manufactures a wide range of seating products, designed to fit seamlessly into any development. Built to last, and simple to install, our benches and seats are manufactured from three primary materials, each with their own unique installation requirements.
Galvanised Mild Steel
Galvanised steel is hardy, rust resistant and, able to withstand tough conditions on site with ease, but is still needs treating properly to keep it in top condition.
Cover coatings. Although the steel itself is resilient, coatings are still vulnerable to damage. Store any coated products away from sharp objects and harsh chemicals that might scratch or damage paintwork, until you’re ready to install them..
Install carefully. Make sure you always clean any splashes of concrete or dust from the steel when you’re installing a bench or seat using with warm water to avoid any permanent damage.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is renowned for its flawless finish, but this can easily be tainted if you aren’t careful during installation.
Keep it clean. Dust, dirt and debris can easily tarnish the finish of stainless steel, so keep benches and seats protected until you install them. As with galvanised steel, clean any concrete splashes or dust away quickly to avoid damaging the product.
Always use the correct bolts. Always use stainless steel bolts to fix a stainless steel product; other bolts will react with the stainless steel over time, damaging the product. For a more secure fit, you can use Tek Screws which round off once secure, preventing them from being undone.
Wood
Wood is different to any other material AUTOPA uses. Compared to steel it is incredibly delicate, and needs treating with care to maintain its appearance.
Always wear gloves. Wood is easy to stain; grease and dirt from your hands can easily transfer and cause permanent damage. To reduce the risk, always wear gloves when handling wood.
Keep it clean, safe and dry. Wood is vulnerable to the elements, so always store it properly. Wet wood can become misshapen, and too much pressure can deform it permanently. Keep wood covered until you are ready to install it, and avoid placing heavy loads on top of it.
Install wood last. The only components that AUTOPA manufactures from wood are the slats of our benches and seats. This means you can usually attach the wood to the frame after it is fixed to the ground, avoiding any potential dust or concrete splashes occurring during installation. Make sure you don’t overtighten bolts and screws, so you don’t spoil the product.
