The Project We were introduced to this client by Home Counties swimming pools some two years prior to starting the project. Home Counties would be supplying an endless pool and we needed to work closely with a specialist architect and builder. The main focus was that the Pool be fully inset in the ground, be inside a building for all year around use, plus for there to be flush thresholds from the house through the garden and into the pool room for disability scooter access. The Work For our part, we need to consider the interaction between the base and a building, door apertures and make sure there was a safe turning circle for the scooter when in the room. After a few drawings and some detailed conversations it was decided the best solution for the scooter access was to have a secondary door in the side; this allowed access in and out without the requirement of turning, although we also designed the size to also allow this if needed. The building was provided without a floor and we fixed it directly to a brick surround. All other items were part of a 10 year guarantee specification, with cement wall to the right, rear and pump-house, and MTX cladding in 'V200' to the left and front. Finished in our standard anthracite colour with matching aluminium doors and windows. Internally we use our wet wall products, we installed the electrics including two humidity sensing xpelairs that automatically come on when needed, lighting is controlled by remote and we assisted with the switching for the automatic cover installed on this endless pool. The wet environment flooring was completed by a specialist company and the end result is absolutely perfect for a client and her words below are testament to this. The Result A very happy customer: "We are very pleased with our Baker's Timber Building and cannot recommend them highly enough. The project was a poolhouse for an Endless Pool (small pool with current to swim against), supplied and installed by Home Counties Pools of Horsham. I have Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and my walking is limited and balance bad, so I needed to be able to ride my mobility scooter into the poolhouse, and park it right by the steps into the pool. It presented a new challenge for Bakers, because I needed both level access from the outside and a fully in ground pool. The flooring that Bakers would normally install was not suitable because it involves a step up from the outside, so creative solutions were required. These also involved input from our Architects, Structural engineer and our excellent builder (Burton Group of Faversham). The other challenge was the weather in 2018. In the winter/spring it was either too wet or too cold, so digging and reinforcing the pit and getting it dry enough were delayed, and the planned start dates for the pool and building had to be put back. Then there was the heatwave, which meant that the building was too hot to work in at times and glue and latex wouldn't set. Throughout, Bakers provided an outstanding service. The different elements had to be done in a certain order and they were flexible and patient about dates constantly changing. The whole team is very efficient, always helpful, kind, prompt in communicating and good at liaising with the others involved. Martin spent a lot of time with me to make sure that the layout and positioning of doors would work, and the end result does exactly that. Thank-you Bakers."
