The Project Having worked with the client for a number of years, we were delighted to be asked to return for a special project and something a little different for the Bakers team. An old garage and dilapidated workshop stood on a piece of land adjacent to the property which was in need of a modern and stylish upgrade, and we had the perfect design in mind. We delivered a stunning new structure including spacious new workshop and six-metre wide double car barn - we think you'll agree that it is certainly a beautiful update. The Work The client wished for Bakers to take care of the whole project, from planning to delivery and we were very happy to add our full-service capabilities to their build. Using all of our technical experience, we successfully obtained planning permission for the build and of course, worked very closely with the client on the design of the structure. Beautiful oak posts and gallows brackets add a real classic quality to the look of the building - something the client was very keen to include in the revised drawings. Mixing modern with traditional is something we are very adept at at Bakers, so this was no challenge for our team of designers. As part of our service for the client, we even liaised with third party supplier Vintage Driveways who managed all of the external groundwork on the project. Again, this is a service we regularly offer clients to take the weight off their minds while we handle all aspects of their project. We carefully considered the placement of the building within its environment, and ensured that we placed cladding on two sides of the structure to keep the elements - and leaves - out. Stylish finishing touches in the form of a white ceiling and motion-sensitive downlighters to assist with parking at night add a touch of contemporary class. This project presented a welcome challenge to the team with the departure from our usual range of buildings, but we are delighted with the result and the client was thrilled with our work. The area has been totally transformed and I'm almost looking forward to winter so I don't have to 'waste my life' de-icing my car!!!
