Jean's Day With Guide Dogs

As part of our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) commitment targets, we encourage all of our employees to take a free day away from work to provide help and offer support back to the local community. Last week, BGB's Jean Leggett (part of the Purchasing team) took one of her CSR days to provide assistance and volunteer to man the 'Guide Dogs Stamford Branch' exhibition stand at the recent Burghley Horse Trails at Stamford. Jean said, "I have been a volunteer for the Guide Dogs for a number of years, so when I heard we could have volunteer days I jumped at the chance to support and assist the Guide Dogs stand." "It was great to have the support of two Guide Dogs in action, one Ambassador Dog, and one Puppy in training. Julia, one of the other helpers is blind and deaf, so seeing her in action feeling one of the toy dogs and knowing that the one she was feeling was of a German Shepherd and also watching her knit blew me away! Knowing my support was appreciated and worthwhile to the charity gave me a great feeling personally."
