A Key driver to building brand trust
A recent report undertaken by media company Edelman reveals the impact of in person interactions and brand loyalty, just over three quarters (77%) of respondents to the survey suggested that brands are trusted more by potential customers when they have met at a live event. Research also suggested that it’s even more personal for millennials with 8 out of 10 placing their trust in brands they have interacted with at ‘in person’ events.
64% of replies reported that brand awareness and recognition lasted at least a month after the event.
So, It’s a people thing…
COVID changed many things across the world, and the live events sector was certainly affected with the whole industry practically stopping overnight in March 2020, however while a shock at the time it did highlight the need to interact with others, particularly at professional events where attendees mingle with peers in the same field.
This enabled research into the benefits of meeting our colleagues (and competitors), and to assess the effect of not meeting professional colleagues, giving an unwitting ‘control group.’
Lack of contact was shown to lead to:-
- hampered relationships,
- Restricted research and new lines of thinking
- Stunted industry growth and personal development.
It also found that younger employees were affected the most as they did not have established contacts and found it hard to build them, relying on the networks of their bosses.
Green shoots
In 2021 there were approx. 440,000 conferences and meetings up massively on the 195,000 in 2020 which has led to growth across many sectors and this figure has grown in 2022 and research into 2023 and beyond expects figures to be back at 2019 levels by early 2024.
So, Live events are a good thing, you get to meet your clients, your clients get to see what is new in your industry and they build a relationship with you and they want to do more business with you, everyone wins, What is also coming through loud and clear in all the research is that there is a new appreciation for live events. Absence has made the heart grow fonder.
Trust in people
But perhaps the biggest takeaway from all the recent research of the event industry is the impact of human interaction on trust.
Not only have the studies shown that professionals work better together, vibing with their industry colleagues (and competitors), but customers also want the human touch.
Brands they interact with face-to-face, are the ones they trust and will buy from. A lesson all companies can learn from.
Be Seen, but be remembered
Research has shown people will remember a brand they have discussed for up to a month after a discussion, did you know however that people will remember a brand who give them a promotional piece of merchandise for up to 6 Months.

Just to confirm that we were very happy with the service, and very much appreciated the assistance with rushing our order through to ensure the badges were here for a particular date.
The badges themselves were perfect and very well received.
