INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY 1ST OCTOBER 2019

Coffee is one of the worlds most popular hot drinks with over 3 billion cups being drunk every day, the purpose of International Coffee Day is to raise awareness of all aspects of the coffee industry. The issues coffee farmers and workers face due to the fluctuation in global coffee prices have caused many problems through the whole global coffee supply chain. Due to a surplus crop of coffee being produced for the last few years coffee prices are currently at a 15-year low which has had a negative effect on everyone involved in the production and processing of coffee. International Coffee Day’s aim is to raise awareness of these issues and help to campaign for a fair wage and improved working conditions for all involved in the industry. Most of us will pick up a coffee from our local independent coffee shop or chain stores such as Starbucks, Costa or Café Nero at some point without really giving a thought to the source and origin of the coffee we are drinking. International Coffee Day aims at making this a more thoughtful process and hopes to engage with the public to bring awareness of the issues and allow people to make an informed choice about the coffee they drink and where they purchase it from. With Coffee consumption at an all time high in the UK aligning your brand with a coffee related product could be a great way of engaging with your target audience. We have a selection of Eco coffee cups and travel mugs which are a perfect way of encouraging the use of re-usable items in place of disposable coffee cups. Disposable coffee cups are hard to recycle due to the different types of coated paper materials used and often fitted with a plastic single use sip lid. Why not introduce a program of reusable cups in your workplace or organisation and help reduce waste and single use plastic?
