Have you ever had trouble finding the information you want on the net? If so, take a look at our practical advice on how to get the best out of Google, and youll find what youre looking for in no time!
1. Get local time anywhere
To find out what time it is anywhere in the world, just type time (location); for example time London
2. Check weather reports
To find weather conditions in a given location, just type weather (location); for example weather London
3. Convert almost anything
Find out how many miles in a kilometer, or how many seconds there are in a day, or how many euros there are to five pounds; for example, try typing
5 Pounds Sterling in Euro
4. Find related terms
Adding a tilde (~) to a search term will return related terms; for example, Googling ~nutrition returns results with the words nutrition, food and health in them.
5. Learn the definition of a term
Google can use resources on the web to search out definitions for any term. For example, type define:brilliant to get a list of meanings for the word brilliant
6. Make Google recognise faces
If you're doing an image search for Paris Hilton and don't want any pictures of the French city, a special URL parameter in Google's Image search will do the trick! Add &imgtype=face to the end of your image search to just get images of faces, without any inanimate objects. Try it out with a search for rose (which returns many photos of flowers) versus rose with the face parameter.
We hope you find some of these Google search as techniques useful as we do.
