Support Dogs Graduation Day

Support Dogs Graduation Day
Support Dogs is one of our favourite charities, so we were delighted to attend their Graduation Day on Sunday 23rd November at Tankersley Manor in Barnsley.
The Sheffield-based organisation supplies and trains dogs which change people’s lives. These clever canines can help with everyday tasks, sense approaching seizures and make life easier for adults and children with physical disabilities, epilepsy and autism. Not only that, they provide invaluable companionship and inspire confidence.
We became a partner to Support Dogs earlier this year, sponsoring a new trainer, providing food for the trainee dogs and being on hand with nutrition advice.
The Support Dogs graduation event marks the end of an intense training programme the support dogs go through, which can last up to two years. As you can imagine, it was a very proud occasion for the clients who are paired with the dogs, as well as an emotional experience hearing the heart-warming stories from the clients who took to the stage.
All eight graduates received a Burns goody bag, containing food, a blanket, Burns mug, frisbee and information leaflets. Here’s graduate Minta, companion of 8 year old Jacob who has severe autism, snuggled up in her Burns blanket!
