Regardless of what aisle in the supermarket your customers can be found in, it is extremely likely that dispensing pumps will be there. Indeed, with their incredible versatility, it’s not hard to see why these products are used across a variety of applications in household, pharmaceutical and commercial enterprises.
Why are Pump Dispensers so Popular?
Dispensing pumps are often a more convenient and user-friendly option for dispensing liquids than simple bottle caps. Here’s just a few ways that pump dispensers provide ultimate convenience: User friendliness: The container does not have to be opened for the product to be dispensed. User control: The user can dispense specific quantities. This is particularly important in pharmaceutical applications and food products where the quantity dispensed means a lot. Wide choice: The popularity of these products means there’s a huge range of options to choose from; from dosage pumps to lotion pumps.
Pump Dispensers and Measured Dosing
One of the key reasons companies choose pump dispensers is in how they will dispense a measured dose of liquid, gel, lotion, cream or soap using a simple, single-handed option. That’s why they are so commonly used in products like shampoos; conditioners, face washes, detergents, household cleaners and more.
Regardless of how much product you need to be dispensed in one single-handed action, we’ve got the pump dispenser to match. Doses from Cambrian Packaging’s range of soap dispensers range from 1.6ml to 30ml and are primarily available in a white colour (we also offer translucent options, but only in smaller sizes).
Pump Dispensers and Plastic Packaging Tax
As of April 2022, businesses across all sectors of industry are now subject to the Plastic Packaging Tax. Introduced as a way of providing a financial incentive to encourage the use of recycled material in the manufacture of plastic packaging, this new levy applies to plastic packaging items produced in (or imported to) the UK that do not contain at least 30% recycled plastic.
So – will using pump dispensers in your packaging make you liable to pay Plastic Packaging Tax? The answer is yes – however, that can depend on what kind of container you’re using.
Pump dispensers – specifically ‘hand soap pumps’ are mentioned in HMRC guidance as being liable under the tax rules. These are primarily 24mm and 28mm pumps which are fitted to bottles to complete a packaging combination as part of production.
However, there is one loophole here. 38mm, 51mm and 61mm pumps fitted to jerry cans by the end user aren’t considered packaging, and the Plastic Packaging Tax therefore doesn’t apply.
Pump Dispensers and Jerry Cans
If a jerry can pump dispenser is what you’re looking for, you can access the full Cambrian range here. Whilst you can get whatever information you need on these products by contacting us – however, there’s one common FAQ we’d like to touch upon regarding our white lotion jerry can pump.
This dispenser pump is usually used on 5/10/12.5 litre UN jerry cans for dispensing barrier cream and hand cleaning products, but it can also be used for dosing concentrated cleaning products.
