10. What are the main trends disrupting the industry at the moment?
There are so many exciting things going on in the plastic packaging world at the moment! Some of the main trends include the rise of AI and smart packaging solutions, while advanced labelling technologies such as In-Mould Labelling are taking the industry by storm. Increased consumer awareness and education about sustainability is also focusing the industry on minimalist design, lightweight packaging solutions and the use of more recycled content and mono materials in packaging products.
11. Is Cambrian a sustainable business?
At Cambrian, we take the climate emergency that’s facing our planet very seriously. That’s why it’s our daily mission to make sure that the products we provide and our business practices are as sustainable as possible. We’re extremely proud to be one of the first UK packaging suppliers to be awarded Carbon Neutral status, we have a Platinum rating from sustainability platform EcoVadis for our environment, ethics and sustainable procurement work (which puts us in the Top 1% of companies assessed in the last year!) and we have several eco-friendly initiatives going on at Cambrian HQ. Read more about what we’re doing to be a more sustainable business in our blog.
12. Are your products sustainable?
Stocking and supplying eco-friendly products is something we’re very passionate about and we’re always working to expand the range of sustainable products that we offer. A great number of our products are available as 30% PCR (post consumer recyclate) options in our Zero PPT range and some are even made from 100% PCR and form our legendary Ecycle™ range. And we have some really exciting monopolymer (ie, made from type of plastic) products in the pipeline. These products are a complete game changer for recycling, so watch this space for more details!
13. How can I keep up with new sustainability legislation?
There does seem to be a lot of new sustainability legislation coming into force – but don’t worry because our team of experts is always on hand to help our customers find the most sustainable, regulation-compliant packaging solutions. From the latest plastic packaging tax (PPT) payment requirements to the commitments small and large packaging suppliers will need to make with the new EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) regulations, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Keep an eye on our blog, website and social channels for all the latest information and updates.
14. What is a resin ID code?
A resin identification code (RIC) is a number inside a triangle of arrows on plastic products, identifying the plastic type. Codes range from 1 to 7, each representing different materials like PETE or HDPE. Read more about resin ID codes and what they mean in our blog.
15. Why are Resin ID Codes important?
Resin ID codes are important because they can help you determine whether or not a plastic packaging product is recyclable. Typically, containers displaying Resin ID code 1 (PET and rPET), 2 (HDPE and rHDPE) and 5 (PP) are recyclable using standard, kerbside facilities.
16. Does the way my packaging is designed matter?
In a word, yes! The design of your packaging dictates whether or not it’s a commercial success. It affects everything from the functionality & performance and safety & security of your product, to the way it looks on the shelf, your brand image and your ability to meet the sustainability expectations of your customers. Read more about why packaging design is crucial in our blog and ask our team today about a packaging upgrade.
17. How can in-mould labelling (IML) help my business?
During the production process, your food safe, waterproof label is inserted into the cavity of your container, then the plastic material is injected into the mould. Labelling as part of the production process rather than after it saves you time and money and reduces your carbon footprint, while also giving your product and branding a consistent appearance. IML can also help protect your product from being damaged or compromised during transit and while in storage. Find out more about our IML service online.
18. Do you offer a dip-tube trimming service?
Dip tube trimming can transform the dispensing prowess of your product and we’re proud to offer it to our customers. If one of the standard dip tube lengths on our triggers, mini sprayers and lotion pump dispensers isn’t quite working, we can trim it to suit your specific requirements. 19. Do you offer storage services?
Yes, we do! Depending on your requirements, we can store an order you’ve placed with us for up to three months and deliver your products to you in smaller quantities as and when needed.
