What Gas Struts are available?
07-03-2016
There isn't just one type of gas strut, read on to find out about the different types available.
If you are unsure of exactly what gas struts (or gas springs) are then have a read of our previous post ‘what are gas springs?’ Once you have read that or if you already know what they are then you will know that they are used for a wide range of applications; all of these different uses mean that there is more than one type of gas strut, here are some of them that are produced by Camloc:
Swift and Sure
These particular gas springs are perfect for a range of uses including all sized vehicles, machine guards, hood supports, hatch covers and more. They have the same characteristics as a compression spring, this teamed with a small change in force as the spring extends results in a controlled rate of movement; a hydraulically cushioned zone also causes oil dampening to occur. These things help to protect hinges and mounts, therefore helping them to work better for longer. A great feature of these springs is that they are self-contained, so do not require any other power source to make them work.
Swift and sure springs are available in a wide selection of sizes and can be tailored to the customer’s specific requirements.
Stop and Stay
The stop and stay gas struts are used for applications such as canopies, sunbeds and monitor arms. With these springs you are able to adjust them to suit the particular application; pre-setting them for a particular weight allows you to raise, lower and position the application using minimal effort.
As the name suggests, these springs allow you to stop the application in many positions and it will stay! Like the other types of springs these can be tailor made in a range of sizes, ensuring that every customer receives their perfect product.
Econoloc
This range of struts is used in heavy duty applications that require an added safety feature such as trucks, construction machinery and agricultural equipment. With these springs you do not need separate safety rods because they lock when fully extended, they cannot close unless they are unlocked; the lock is released by thumb pressure being applied to the designated area which allows the spring to compress in a controlled manner.
Just one of these gas struts is usually needed alongside a standard one and they can be made to suit a range of spring sizes.
Blocklift
These springs are used when you want to be able to move an application to any position at your own discretion, they are like regular gas springs with the addition of an internal locking mechanism; only when this is released will the spring be able to move.
These are often seen in vehicle seating, height adjustable tables and chairs, adjustable beds and much more.
Vari-Lift®
These are adjustable force gas struts that can be altered to meet your requirements; during manufacturing they are charged to their maximum force, this gas can then be released in order to provide a force suitable for the application.
These springs are ideal when you have a selection of products that vary in weight and because they can even be adjusted when they are already in position they save both time and money.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel swift and sure gas struts are available if you require increased corrosion resistance; the specially prepared chrome plated rod surface protects the spring from high levels of corrosion and makes it perfect for harsh marine and coastal environments as well as for applications that require high levels of cleanliness.
