Carr’s weld components for battery cell projects, for all electric vehicles and energy recovery systems. Using lasers to weld copper and aluminium, Carrs weld interconnections to lithium ion cells with only a small increase in temperature. Keeping the cell under 85oc is crucial if the battery is to maintain its working life and performance. Carr’s were so impressed with the technology that they have bought their own electric vehicle - a Mitsubishi IMiev. Carrs use the new IMiev to deliver to customers and collect materials, as it is ideal for light loads and very economical to run!
