Pre-connected pads help to save valuable time during an emergency. Additionally, these pads are equipped with a Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tag that allows the PA-1 defibrillator to alert you to when the electrode pads need to be replaced. Replacing your electrode pads when they have expired is essential as this will be the difference between your device being used during an emergency and not.
Simply remove the electrode pads from the packaging and place them on the patient's chest, as advised by the diagrams on the pads reverse side. After the pads have been correctly attached to the patient's chest, they will begin to analyse their heart rhythm and relay the information back to the defibrillator. This information enables the device to make a decision as to whether the casualty requires a shock or not. If the patient requires a shock, simply follow the instructions provided by the PA-1 device.
It is important to remember that if no shock is needed, no shock will be delivered. Responders at this point should continue CPR and await the arrival of an ambulance.
