MAKE AN ENTRANCE!
Adding a portico clearly defines where your front door is. But isn’t it obvious where the entrance is? Not always, as you can see here. Before the portico as built on this modern property the front door blends into the bank of windows.

A large new build house that lacks a central focal point.
AFTER
But this new build was designed to have a portico and although the house is still in progress, it is clear what a difference the portico makes to the front of the building. We created a half column to fit flush against the wall that extends out beside the entrance. All our architectural stone is made bespoke to order, so we can create the best solutions for your property projects.
The addition of a large portico draws the eyes to the centre of the property and makes the entrance a welcoming feature.
Porticos are not just for new builds. A retrofitted portico is also helpful for period properties. This beautiful home has a feature window in the center, with the entrance on the side.
The columns of the portico create a welcoming entrance, with a smart blue front door to contrast with the white facade. This guides visitors along the driveway towards the correct part of the property, in keeping with the heritage features. The portico has been designed by our team to balance the key architectural elements of the house, keeping everything in proportion.

TOTAL TRANSFORMATION!
This late twentieth century house had a number of extensions over the years and it left the entrance looking a little lost between the different roof levels. The brick colour looked a little dated with the dark painted windows.
BEFORE
The original, late twentieth century house was drab in dated brown stone, with dark windows. The entrance is lost between the jumble of roof heights and extensions.
AFTER
The transformation is incredible. The portico was painted to match the render that was added to the whole exterior at the front of the building, giving the property a stylish, contemporary finish. The drainpipes and lighting cables have been cleverly concealed within the portico design to create this stylish, modern property. It is beautifully lit with with warm spotlights for a welcoming feel. One relatively small addition has totally updated the exterior of this house, making it more desirable within the property market. The large bespoke Chilstone portico unifies the two main gables of the house. Rendered and painted in white, the colour scheme brings the building together in a chic, contemporary finish.
A LASTING INVESTMENT
Choosing a stone portico is also a practical choice. This customer had an original wooden portico that had rotted over time, making it unsafe. The base of the columns were in a very poor state and the customer wanted a sturdy replacement in the same style.
BEFORE
The columns of this portico were badly rotten and had become dangerous.
AFTER
We replicated the design and handcrafted it in cast stone. This new portico is in keeping with the period property and made to last. The columns will be painted to match the exterior of the property.
Chilstone replicated this portico in cast stone to replace when the wooden original that had rotted and become unsafe.
