Stone Engraving

We are very lucky to have an extremely talented stone engraver based here at Chilstone… master-stone-engraver-UK Nigel is one of Kent’s leading stone engravers with over 30 years experience in the art. Last year he worked on many of the local war memorials renewing the engraving and making them beautiful again. He has completed prestigious work for some of the country’s leading gentry and societies including the SAS SAS-stone-plaque-engraving Nigel’s stone engraving on SAS plaque Stone engraving by hand is an ancient activity and a bit of a dying art form sadly, as the results are truly beautiful, so much nicer than machine engraving! Nigel can engrave anything on any stone piece, we frequently complete house signs… this particular project was a rather large scale commission which we wanted to share with you, it’s caused quite a stir in the village! We designed and cast the blocks of stone which were then carefully engraved by Nigel’s steady hand and fixed to the building with steel pins… hand-stone-engraving bespoke stone engraving The results are truly stunning, and the design agency; MCD London who commissioned us, passed on some lovely feedback: The general public comment a lot on how fabulous the sign is and the local Vicar wrote to me personally thanking me for installing the stonework.
