- FMT-DS Introduction: The FMT-DS Long distance Data Splitter is a practical interface device which allows computers and peripherial devices to share data. Each Data splitter can drive a current loop circuit for up to 10Km which is more than adequate for most industrial, commercial or government complexes. The range can be further extended by using a series of units as repeater stations. In general the faster the baud rate ( data transfer rate) the shorter the distance between units. The FMT-DS is designed for Din rail mounting and due to the use of surface mount technology has a small footprint. Overall dimensions are 75mm width across rail, by 90mm length along rail and 54mm high. The FMT-DS can be powered from a variety of low voltage dc or ac power sources. All connections are clearly shown on the top cover label. Applications include long distance communications between devices with RS232 ports without fear of radio interference or eaves dropping.
