Officina Alessi Ashtray designed in 1928 by Marianne Brandt who is known as the only woman to have worked in the Bauhaus Metallwerkstatt, a school of design founded in 1916, that allowed young artistically gifted men and women to bring art, architecture and craftsmanship into alliance. The project Metallwerkstatt of the Bauhaus includes home accessories coming from significant examples of creative moments, historical epochs and prototypes. Unknown to some the majority of Alessi products have ancient origins, and are strongly conditioned by rituals, plucked either from memory or the collective unconscious.
