24ct Gold Leaf Perfect to create effects with both transparent and opaque enamels Referred to as Gold Foil due to it being a thicker version of normal Gold Leaf Supplied between sheets of waxed paper for easier handling and application This single sheet of 24ct gold leaf for enamel work can be used to create a shimmering background effect for transparent enamels, or a finishing effect for an opaque enamel base coat. This is referred to as `Foil` due to it being thicker than normal Gold Leaf, however it is still exactly the same as Gold Leaf. To use, a base coat of either enamel flux (also known as colourless transparent enamel) or your chosen enamel colour should be applied to the piece. The gold leaf is then ahered the pre-fired layer of enamel with the aid of an adhesive or gum, such as Klyr-Fire Gum Solution (860 126), before re-firing at the same firing temperature as the base layer. This causes the leaf to adhere to the base layer. If your gold leaf appears dark, apply and fire a further layer of transparent enamel to bring up the gold colour. Further layers of transparent enamels can then be applied over the gold leaf as desired. This single sheet of 24ct gold leaf measures 100mm x 100mm (4" x 4"), and is approximately 0.1 microns thick. Supplied between two sheets of waxed paper for easier handling and application.
