Perfect for beginners, hobbyists and students, the set features five different sizes and shaped dies, each of which will cut soft metal such as silver, gold, brass or copper. To use the Artisan Star Shaped Disc Cutter, simply place your metal under your chosen die and strike firmly with a hammer - thicker gauge metals will often need more than one strike. For best results we recommend using this disc cutter in a vice this will give smooth and more accurate result. Your shaped disc will come out of the bottom of the disc cutter ready to use in your jewellery designs. The five dies in this set will create Star shaped discs, these include: 12mm x 12mm (1/2 inch), 15mm x 15mm (5/8 inch), 18mm x 18mm (11/16 inch), 20mm x 20mm (3/4 inch) and 23mm x 23mm (7/8 inch). To keep your disc cutter in good condition, use a lubricant such as Burr Life (998 021) when not in use and, when working, operate the cutter on a rubber block such as 999 7151. For perfectly perpendicular results when cutting small pieces of metal, insert a scrap piece of base metal of the same thickness as the metal to be cut into the opposite side of the cutter. The cutting edges have a 7 degree angle, enabling it to cut through metal like scissors. The tool measures 7.6cm in length, 7.6cm in width and 3.9cm in depth and is best for use with 18 gauge (1.2mm) of metal. Please note this product weights 5lbs.
