Turquoise is a mineral, formed of hydrated copper aluminium phosphate, characterised by its bright blue-green colours. Turquoise is most often opaque with a solid blue colour but can also come in `matrix` form, where it will contain veining and inclusions of the original rock the turquoise was formed in. Turquoise is typically stabilised to improve the stones hardness and ability to be cut without damage. These turquoise have been stabilised with a wax/plastic to improves the durability and appearance of the stone. Turquoise has generally been known as the stone of purification and is excellent for cleansing and protecting. This round turquoise cabochon measures 10mm. Turquoise has a hardness of 5 - 6 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.30 to 2.90. Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each cabochon is unique so patterns will vary and natural inclusions are sometimes visible. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place turquoise stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Turquoise can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing turquoise to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these turquoise are sold individually.
