Cultured Pearls Pair Button Half Drilled 8.5-9mm, Peacock Grey, Freshwater
Pearl is an organic material, formed when an irritant enters a mollusk shell. Layers of `nacre`, which the mollusk`s shell is also made from known as `mother of pearl`, forms around this irritant, over time creating a pearl. Its characteristic iridescent surface sheen is due to these overlapping layers. These pearls are cultured freshwater pearls, meaning an irritant has been purposely added to the mollusk to start the natural formation process. Pearl has generally been known as the stone of sincerity, symbolising purity whilst bringing truth and loyalty. These pair of button shaped cultured freshwater pearls measure approximately 8.5mm - 9mm in diameter. They come in a creamy peacock grey shade and are supplied half drilled. Pearl has a hardness of 2.5 - 4.5 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.60 to 2.85. Please note that due to the nature of the material, each pearl is unique so colour, shape and size may vary slightly. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place pearl in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Pearl can be easily cleaned with an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing pearl to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected and these pearls are sold as a pair. Sold as a pair Natural Material Hardness: 2.5 - 4.5 on the Mohs scale Healing properties: Purity, Honesty, Loyalty
