Round Faceted Natural gemstone Hardness: 5 - 6.5 on the Mohs scale Healing properties: Confidence, Independence, Empowering Fire Opal is a translucent variety of Opal, easily identifiable by its fiery red, orange and yellow colours, caused by the presence of iron oxide. Also known as a `Mexican Opal`, fire opal does not usually show a play of colour and is the only natural opal that is usually faceted cut. Fire Opal has generally been known to attract money and luck and can bring empowerment and confidence. This round faceted fire opal measures 4mm. Fire opal has a hardness of 5 - 6.5 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 1.97 - 2.22. Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each stone is unique so colours will vary and natural inclusions and zoning may be present. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place fire opal stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Fire opal can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing fire opal to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these opals are sold individually.
