Large Dixieme Gauge Steel With Brass Gauge, 15mm

This Large Dixieme Gauge is most commonly used for measuring external dimensions. Made with steel `legs` and a brass `arc`, this gauge measures up to 15mm and has been calibrated in 1/10mm. The instrument works on a spring mechanism; the legs are held between the thumb and forefinger which when gently squeezed together open the ends. The item to be measured is placed between the ends and the legs gently released so that the ends come to rest either side of the object. The pointer will indicate on the arc what measurement has been reached. It is also suitable for measuring internal measurements, however not to the same accuracy.
