80 mesh particle size Ideal to use on gold, platinum, copper, steel & cast iron Transparent in colour Can be used on precious metal clay This Kingfisher transparent vitreous enamel (Latham colour reference of T218) is glass bonded by heat to a metal surface such as gold, platinum, copper, steel, and cast iron. This product comes in a powder form. The powder is approximately 80 mesh particle size, meaning most of the grains would pass through a screen that has 80 openings per linear inch. The powder is finer than granulated sugar but coarser than flour; it is applied by one of several methods to a clean surface. It is then heated to a firing temperature of 820-340 degrees; these steps are then repeated after cooling to get different desired effects on the metal. Depending upon the surface being enamelled you can achieve different shades with one colour. The colours of the enamel will vary depending on the metal being used; the enamels may not look the same when fired on Precious Metal Clay, fine silver or gold. For the best clarity rinse the metal well in distilled/ purified water prior to use. Contains lead and arsenic. Supplied in a 15g tube.
