Nephrite is a variety of jade made up of jade and actinolite, easily identifiable by its waxy surface sheen and rich green colour, caused by the presence of iron. Nephrite Jade can vary from a rich olive green to a light milky white green and can sometimes include spots of black. Jade is known as the `dream stone`. Nephrite Jade is excellent for bringing stability and tranquillity whilst protecting from negative energies. This oval nephrite jade cabochon measures 9mm x 7mm. Nephrite Jade has a hardness of 6 - 6.5 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.9 - 3.03. Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each cabochon is unique so colours will vary and slight natural inclusions are sometimes faintly visible. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place nephrite jade stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Nephrite Jade can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing nephrite jade to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these nephrite jade are sold individually.
