Made from high carbon steel and suitable for use on all metals, they deliver a superior performance time and again. This precision hand file offers guaranteed quality and superb cutting. Measuring 150mm long (excluding tang), 18.5mm wide with a 4mm thickness, it features a medium cut 2 that has been designed for optimal hardness, reliability and durability. The flat profile or `Pillar` is ideal for filing various surfaces including tube, sheet, rod and castings and has a 3-sided cut, which means only 3 of the 4 sides are abrasive. To achieve best results we would recommend to cut only on the forward stroke and not on the return stroke as this will undo any smoothing. Always begin with the largest, coarsest file suitable for the job and work through to the finest, with the option of moving onto a needle file if required. Although it is not necessary to use a handle, specific file handles are available - 999 0549 The coarser the file the more metal is removed. Files are graded as below; Cut 00 - Very coarse Cut 0 - Coarse Cut 1 - Coarse/Medium Cut 2 - Medium Cut 3 - Medium/Fine Cut 4 - Fine Other flat files are available: 150mm, Cut 0 - 999 456 150mm, Cut 00 - 999 455 150mm, Cut 4 - 999 460 150mm, Cut 3 - 999 459 150mm, Cut 1 - 999 457 Please note - this product is not supplied with a handle.
