RESIN BOUND STONE INSTALLATION – CORE BOUND SYSTEM

PROJECT BRIEF: COMPLETELY POROUS AESTHETICALLY PLEASING PATIO AND DRIVE A client who owned a substantial property in Buckinghamshire required a modern contemporary look for this 300m2 patio to the rear of the property. A low maintenance requirement, completely porous and most of all, aesthetically pleasing. PRACTICAL SOLUTION: UNIQUE CORE BOUND RESIN STONE SYSTEM LAID OVER STABILISED GRAVEL BASE We used CORE Bound, a unique resin bound stone system laid over a stabilised gravel base. By using this system, we dramatically reduced both the carbon footprint and costs involved by taking away the need for a pre-existing hard surface to lay the resin over. The costs involved in laying a porous concrete or macadam base would have been extremely high due to lack of clear access to the rear of the property. We used CORE Edge flexible steel edgings to create the sweeping curves that give this project the visual impact as they work perfectly for resin bound stone to provide an incredibly strong perimeter edge that is almost invisible when viewed from above so as not to distract from the seamless appearance of resin bound. ADVANTAGES: “THE CORE EDGE SYSTEM HAS REALLY DELIVERED WHAT WAS OFFERED, NO FUSS – AMAZING RESULT” By using the CORE Bound system, we were able to provide the customer with exactly the look they wanted, at a price significantly lower than other quotes they had received for a resin bound stone laid over a macadam base. By using stabalised gravel base, we were able to increase the speed in which the base installation was completed. Due to there being no curing time, it allows the resin application to begin immediately, rather than waiting 4 – 6 weeks for the concrete or macadam to fully harden and become suitable for the resin overlay.
