Ensuring high standards
28-02-2016
In 2002, precast concrete drainage components became one of the first construction products to be manufactured to a complete and consistent family of European and Complementary British Standards.
Manufacturing to these standards ensures that concrete drainage products meet the highest requirements and customers have the satisfaction of knowing that the goods have been rigorously product tested on each requisite at every stage of manufacture and are CE Marked and Kitemarked where applicable.
The relevant standards are:
BS EN 1916 and 1917 which provide information on essential performance requirements of materials, product characteristics, product strength and testing, water tightness testing, durability and product sampling and inspection.
Complementary standards BS 5911 Part 1 (pipes and fittings), Part 3 (manholes and cover slabs), Part 4 (inspection chambers) and Part 6 (road gullies and gully cover slabs) cover other aspects, including detailed cement/concrete content information, geometrical characteristics, finishing, sizes and strength class etc.
