Replacement steel plummer blocks for SN - SNH- SNA -SNV & SNE are designed for applications where extra strength and resistance to shock loads are required. Produced to a modern design they are interchangeable with SN plummer blocks and produced on short delivery. The housings conform with BS5646: Part 4: 1979 and are dimensionally interchangeable with SN, SNA, SNL, SNH plummer blocks manufactured with this or the superceded standard ISO R/113. Housings and end covers are manufactured from hot rolled steel plate to BSEN10025 S275, having a minimum yield strength of 220N/mm² (14.25 tons/inch² and a corresponding elongation factor 20-22%. Housings are produced in two basic designs - solid housings and split. The top cap of the split housings is precisely located by two dowels and retained by two high tensile socket cap screws; housing top caps and bases are not interchangeable. Both types of housings can accommodate a range of double-row ball and spherical roller bearings; these bearings may have a parallel bore (metric shaft sizes only) or incorporate an adaptor sleeve (metric and inch shaft sizes). The housing bores are machined to tolerances that produce a loose fit with the bearing outer race; this ensures that dimensional inaccuracies, slight misalignment errors in mounting and thermal expansion of the shafts are accommodated in the housing itself. Axial location of the bearing within the housing is achieved by use of bearing locating rings. In all cases the bearing should be located centrally within the housings. Series FC housings are designed primarily for grease lubrication, and unless otherwise specified are provided with felt seals; these are normally employed for peripheral speeds up to 4 metres/sec. And temperatures up to 100 Deg C. Before using felt strips they should be soaked in hot oil for a few minutes. A grease nipple is provided for periodic relubrication; a pressure relief valve to guard against overfilling can be fitted on request. For applications where the standard range of steel housings are not suitable e.g.- oil/ oil mist lubrication. Alternative mounting holes, etc. we can offer specially designed housings to meet most specifications - please ask for details. When ordering please state the bearing you intend to use and type of end covers required for seals. Bearings can be supplied with housings if required. GUARANTEED UNBREAKABLE All steel housings designed and manufactured by Arvis are guaranteed against breakage and will be replaced free of charge should the housing fail before the insert. You will also receive a free replacement rolling element with your new housing. (Conditional on cap bolt loading where applicable. See individual housings.)
