July, 2011, Curtis Instruments Inc. announces that its Mount Kisco, New York, headquarters and engineering facilities have been awarded ISO 14001:2004 certification in acknowledgment of the company's Environmental Management System. The ISO 14000 series of international environmental management standards, first introduced in 1996, provides a common framework for managing environmental issues including compliance with environmental regulations and continual improvement in the areas of environmental performance. This environmental certification, which is integrated into the Curtis’ U.S. Quality Management System that was certified to ISO 9001 in January of 2001, exemplifies Curtis’ ongoing commitment to the highest standards of quality, environmental stewardship, and dedication to exceed the expectations of its customers and the community at large.
The accreditation is given to companies whose operations minimize their impact on the environment, comply with all applicable laws, regulations and environmental standards and are focused on continual improvements to environmental sustainability. Curtis is engaged in a company wide Environmental Management System effort to attain ISO 14001:2004 certification. These goals have already been achieved by the Curtis subsidiaries in Sweden and France. Curtis manufacturing facilities in Puerto Rico and China expect to be certified in late 2011.
