Liam Borley who is one of our long-standing members of staff, contacted us looking for sponsorship for a defibrillator. DJ Evans has a close relationship with Liam, with DJ Evans being his first employer after leaving school. DJ Evans also supported him achieve his incredible dream of becoming a firefighter. This required the company to be flexible around the last minute call outs that were necessary.
Whilst working as a firefighter he met Mark Cowling who is the head of the Charity Eddies Wish, #SAVEALIFE. Marks father sadly passed away, not having access to a defibrillator. Mark is fundraising to provide Emergency Personal, like Liam with a defibrillator to live in their cars. This will allow them to provide immediate life support in emergency situations, using the skills that they have learnt in their professional environments , such as the Fire and Rescue Service.
This is part of GoodSAM, a responding scheme that supports the NHS and ambulances throughout the UK. GoodSAM have an app that notifies Liam of incidents and also shows users where defibrillators are located. A GoodSAM responder can potentially get to an incident within minutes, this could save a life.
We are so pleased that Liam reached out to us and we of course provided support for this initiative, sponsoring the defibrillator that will be in Liams car.
