Type 3 Asbestos Surveys were replaced by Asbestos Demolition/Refurbishment Surveys upon the release of HSG264.
As part of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015, (CDM Regulations), Asbestos Demolition/Refurbishment Surveys are required prior to all major refurbishment or demolition work to all non-residential buildings. This type of asbestos survey may involve destructive inspection in order to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach, e.g. wall cavities, floor voids, etc. Precise areas of sampling will be discussed with the client beforehand wherever possible, to ensure minimum disruption
The main aim of an Asbestos Demoltion/Refurbishment Survey is to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACMs (asbestos-containing materials) in the building. Asbestos materials may then be removed prior to other works beginning or the design amended accordingly to ensure no asbestos is disturbed. This protects the health of builders and demolition workers working on your site, and ensures you remain legally compliant.
By contacting us at the design stage of your building project, we can ensure that your contractor will be fully aware of all asbestos materials within your building before work begins, ensuring no asbestos materials are unwittingly disturbed by yourself or your contractors.
