Moffat recently developed a breakfast service trolley for the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, Belfast. The trolley is being used in four new ward kitchens that have been installed by Stephens Catering Equipment Ltd, and was designed specifically for the site, with input from catering staff and Stephens.
As the name suggests, the trolley was created for breakfast service. Features include an ergonomic design, easy handling, a warming drawer for toast and a water boiler – a major advantage is that the trolley runs off a single 13 amp plug.
“The trolley was very much a collaboration,” says John Wannan, marketing manager of Moffat. “The catering staff and Stephens told us what they wanted the breakfast trolley to do, we came back with what was feasible – and we went from there.”
Moffat also supplied its Single Tray Service (STS) trolleys for the ward kitchens. These can hold both hot and cold food safely, on each of up to 24 trays, thanks to the clever dual temperature system.
Paul Caves, managing director of Stephens, was on site to oversee the training and handover of the new kitchens to the staff at Ulster Hospital. “We are delighted with the end result of the project,” he says. “I was very impressed by the manufacturing quality of the Moffat trolleys, and by the innovative designs for both systems.”
John adds, “The staff commented on the compact size, manoeuvrability and ease of use of both trolleys. With the STS units, they were particularly impressed by the digital controls and readouts, coupled with audible alarms to alert staff the unit is ready for transport, and the exceptional hot/cold temperature control between the single tray sections.”
All the ward kitchens at Ulster Hospital have three of each of the Moffat trolleys.
