HUBER+SUHNER MTP Pro Field Tool Kit
HUBER+SUHNER MTP Pro Field Tool KitReconfigure polarity and pin gender of MTP Pro connectorsThe HUBER+SUHNER MTP Pro Field Tool Kit consists of two main components the Field Tool itself and a pair of Green Grippers. The Field Tool is used to conduct the reconfiguration of an MTP Pro connector's polarity and/or pin gender, quickly and easily by engineers in the field. The MTP Pro Field Tool features two ports one is utilised for changing the polarity of the MTP Pro connector the other is used to hold the connector in place when pin gender reconfiguration is required.MTP connectivity within the Data Centre has enabled fibre connectivity to grow to not only meet the demands of today, but provide the backbone for future Data Centre growth. The introduction of the MTP Pro connector takes MTP Connectivity to the next level. One of MTP's major benefits is its modularity, high-density, and ability to support high bandwidth network requirements driven by parallel optics applications. MTP Pro is the next generation connector and delivers even greater flexibility:MTP Pro connectors can be reconfigured for both polarity and pin gender which delivers its own set of benefits:Simple field or factory configurability saves time.Eliminates costly errors of ordering incorrect cables.Requires less pre-planning and less cabling inventory. Results in less expenditure and lowers the total cost of cabling infrastructure. The design of the connector reduces the risk of damage to the ferrules, with a longer insertion and extraction sleeve that relives cable strain and makes handling and mating easier and safer. The HUBER+SUHNER MTP Pro Field Tool Kit can be used to alter their OM4 Base-12 MTP Pro Fibre Trunk Cables. How simple is it to reconfigure an MTP Pro connector?Polarity Reconfiguration An MTP Pro connector houses two keys one Black and one Beige. The Black key designates the factory setting of the connector and aligns with polarity marks on the connector's housing. If the Beige key is visible then the polarity of the connector has been altered from the factory setting. To change the polarity of a connector the Field Tool should be positioned in front of you with the word Polarity' facing towards you. Insert the connector into the polarity port with the key facing upwards. Push the connector into the port until it bottoms out and an audible click is heard. Remove the connector and the opposite key will be observed indicating the polarity has been changed.Pin Gender Reconfiguration Pin reconfiguration requires the use of the Field Tool, Green Grippers and a Pin Exchanger. There are two types of Pin Exchangers:Aqua - This Pin Exchanger indicates Multi Mode or Single Mode grade pins.Yellow - This indicates Single Mode Elite® grade pins.Position the Field Tool so that the word Pin' faces towards you. Insert the connector into the Pin port until it clicks in place. Turn the Field Tool round so that the face of the connector is facing towards you, then the procedure will depend whether the connector is being changed from unpinned to pinned or pinned to unpinned.Unpinned to Pinned With the connector face facing towards you take a Pin Exhanger with pins attached and insert the guides into the slots either side of the connector and press home until a click is heard. Remove the Pin Exchanger which should now be empty.Pinned to Unpinned Removing the pins requires an empty Pin Exchanger which should be inserted into the slots either side of the connector and pressed home. The Green Grippers should be fitted onto the Pin Exchanger, either by sliding them on from the side or pushing them on from the end. The centre marks on the Green Grippers and the Pin Exchanger should then be aligned. The Black handles of the Field Tool should then be fully depressed as this releases the pins. Holding the handles depressed, squeeze the Green Grippers until the handles touch. Pull the Green Grippers out removing the Pin Exchanger now with the pins attached.Once the pin reconfiguration has been completed the connector can be removed from the Field Tool. Pin Exchangers can be stored in the Field Tool or in the optional Pin Exchanger Storage Tool.
