Compact 1U Rack Mount Environmental MonitorThe Geist Watchdog 100 is a compact, self-contained, rack mount environmental monitor that has on-board temperature and humidity sensors. It also has input capacity for an additional eight external sensors (4 analogue and 4 digital) and an output of one NO/NC relay contact for triggering external devices like an auto-dialer.Monitoring the environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity, is important to the health of the Data Centre. Whilst temperature monitoring is given some attention, monitoring the humidity is often overlooked. Whilst sites look to decrease the operating temperature, they may inadvertently decrease humidity below recommended levels. Humidity has the potential to create condensation leading to corrosion and the possibility of electrical failures, or if the relative humidity is too low, static discharges that can cause serious problems.Geist, a leading manufacturer of environmental monitoring products, produce a range of environmental monitors that includes the Watchdog 100. Like other environment monitors in the Geist range, the Watchdog 100 rack mount environmental monitor allows users to monitor conditions remotely via secure web interface, and receive SNMP and e-mail alerts when user-specific thresholds are exceeded. The web interface provides an overview of environmental measurements with real-time sensor data. All measurements are logged allowing users to collect data for trending and capacity management.The Geist Watchdog 100 also features four 0-5VDC dry contact analogue inputs and one digital sensor port that allows a splitter to be connected to further connect four digital sensors.
