Peach Pubs launched their inaugural Master & Chef competition to recognise the emerging talent within its group, identifying the future ‘Ones to Watch’ from its front and back of house teams. The Peach pubs are based across the UK, mainly in the market towns, with a focus on good quality, fresh food and a wonderfully welcome experience for their customers.
Awards are a great way to reward but also inspire and motivate your teams. Peach Food Operations Manager Trevor Blake explained why they created this event. “We know we have some fantastic young chefs and managers-to-be in our business and wanted to do something that would encourage them to use their flair and knowledge of their pub and then shine a light on their talents. So we devised a competition to put that to the test and push our young teams to excel,” he said.
A talented young duo CDP Samarth Ghodke and Master Peach Eleni Lebesis from Peach Pubs’ The Richard Onslow in Cranleigh, Surrey won for their food creations and for how important the role of front as well as back of house teams are in delivering an exceptional guest experience. They competed against teams from eight other pubs across the group in the first internal competition of its kind that Peach Pubs has run. They were judged and scored by Peach Brand Operations Director Chris Stagg and Food Operations Manager Trevor Blake with three teams making it through to a final round, taking place at Peach pub The Boathouse at Boulters Lock in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
Proud as Peach To Display This Award
The design of this award focusses on combining the front and back of house aspect of these awards, realised in a wood and high shine aluminium layered plinth base with a metal plate for each year’s winners names to be engraved. Then topped with a waterjet cut bottle, knife and signature peach all laser engraved onto nickel plated aluminium. This style of award will look perfect displayed in the winning pubs year on year. As well as winning the Peach Master & Chef title and their names engraved on the trophy to display in the pub and be presented annually, Samarth and Eleni’s winning menu and wine pairings earned them a prize of a Michelin Star meal and the opportunity to see their dishes on the menu in all 22 Peach pubs.
The Peach Pubs Group had this to say about working with and choosing EFX to create their awards – “We were so impressed with EFX. The turnaround once we had sent all the information was really quick and they were right on the mark with the award design. The award is brilliant quality and the winning team are so proud to have the award in their pub!”
This looks like an exciting start for this event with Peach Food Operations Manager Trevor Blake commenting, “We look forward to our Master Peach & Chef competition becoming a real annual event that gets bigger and better each year,”. You know where we are at EFX for all of your award needs!
