A Shropshire precast concrete company has been called upon to play a starring role in a nationwide theatre production of a popular children’s TV show.
Telford-based Elite Precast Concrete has joined forces with Minor Entertainment, a London-based theatrical production company, to supply blocks to act as kentledge – a form of temporary counterweight – to anchor a purpose built, large four-domed inflatable theatre, being used to stage its phenomenally popular In the Night Garden Live tour.
Minor Entertainment required 105 1 tonne concrete blocks to anchor its inflatable 550-person capacity theatre venue that has been used to showcase a live adaptation of the hugely popular children’s television programme, of the same name. The latest stage of the In the Night Garden Live tour has already seen the show performing to crowds at The Trafford Centre, Manchester, before moving on to Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham.
Owen Batham, Sales and Marketing Director of Elite Precast Concrete said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Minor Entertainment, supplying concrete blocks to a production that provides joy to thousands of children. When one of our standard products isn’t suitable, we are always happy to work with our clients and manufacture something ‘made to measure’.
Minor Entertainment’s Creative Director, Andrew Collier, commented: “As an entertainment production company we’re used to casting, but concrete is a first, and Owen and his team at Elite Precast have met our unusual requirements on time, and at a fair price. They’ve gone out of their way to deliver a quality product, and we’d happily recommend them.”
