The Farmers Guardian details how farmers, agronomics and industry stakeholders are being asked to respond to a public consultation on pesticides and endocrine disruption. The European Commission-driven consultation is seeking views on how to regulate certain chemicals in the environment which may affect the endocrine system which produces, stores and releases hormones.
Current proposals may result in the loss of certain classes of plant protection products, including certain fungicides, insecticides and herbicides and follows a report from The Andersons Centre, commissioned by the National Farmers Union, the Agricultural Industries Confederation and the Crop Protection Association. It found that 87 of the 250 approved pesticides in the UK could be lost to the UK farming industry as a result of EU policies and that the wider food chain could experience losses of up to £2.5bn.
Regardless of their fate, all farm chemicals need storing safely and responsibly and Enduramaxx bunded tanks are vertical storage tanks manufactured with integral protection from leakage and overfilling and are designed with pollution control in mind. In effect a tank within a tank, enabling farmers to conform to health and safety legislation. Being very rugged, Enduramaxx tanks are made form a single piece of rotationally moulded UV-stabilised polyethylene. So spillage and waste is hugely reduced, as is spoilage of these often-expensive resources.
