Throughout November, three members of the EWFM team have been taking part in Movember. Movember is the leading charity that is changing the face of men’s health. It started in Australia in 2003 when two friends got 30 mates to take up the challenge. It has since expanded on a global scale, with over 6 million Mo Bros and Mo Sisters now taking part from 20 countries.
Taking on mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer, Movember exists to help men live happier, healthier, and longer lives. They are uniquely placed to address this health crisis on a global scale. By funding ground-breaking projects all over the world, engaging men to understand what works best and accelerate change.
Every year, individuals can support Movember in a variety of ways. This includes growing a moustache, moving for Movember (moving a minimum of 60km for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the globe), hosting an event, or simply creating your own challenge.
What the EWFM team did:
Guy Curtis, Ben Adamson, and Mike Phillips all took on the challenge and have all been attempting to grow their moustaches (some with greater success than others). They have also each moved a minimum of 60k throughout the month, with all achieving this in different ways. From taking long walks every lunchtime to completing a local half marathon, it’s been a great effort by all three of them.
On the last day of November, the team had raised over £975, which had smashed the target the company had set at the start of the month of £300. However, on the morning of December 1st, we had a late donation to take our total donations to £1030. It’s a fantastic achievement from the EWFM team, and the money raised will go a long way towards raising awareness of men’s health.
Next year we will go again, but bigger and better!
