The oxygen flask method for the determination of chlorine in organic and inorganic compounds consists of a combustion procedure followed by appropriate titrimetric determination. Combustion of the sample in oxygen yields water-soluble inorganic products, percentage chlorine is determined by titration with Mercuric Nitrate solution using diphenylcarbazone indicator.
