Heat Soaked Glass
Glass can contain small inclusions in its properties. Once activated these inclusions become unstable and can cause the glass to break at any time sometimes months or even years after installation. These inclusions although very rare can cause disruption and costs when replacing. In certain situations such as walk-on-glass and balustrades, architects would recommend your glass to be Heat Soaked in order to reduce the risk of this happening.
When glass is Heat Soaked it offers the peace of mind that it is as stable as the material can possibly be. Here at The Glass Warehouse we have a brand new Heat Soaking oven which heats the Toughened Glass to circa 290°C for a given period of time, then slowly cools it down. This process accelerates the expansion of Nickel Sulfide inclusions and if present the glass will shatter. As a result we will know that the glass was not perfect and needs remaking to achieve the required specification.
All of our Heat Soaked glass comes with evidence that it has passed the Heat Soak test.
